Montreal Canadiens Forward Michael Cammalleri was suspended for the first game against the Toronto Maple Leafs which the Canadiens lost 3-2 but, the new faces did not look out of place. The new faces just need to get accustomed to the Canadiens system. The new faces being: Jeff Halpern, Dustin Boyd, Alexandre Picard and Lars Eller.

Sorry about the huge gap of news, but I was busy eating turkey! Anyway not much happened besides the game saturday night. What a game! Carey Price stood on his head and made fantastic saves especially a couple of nice gloves in the second and third period. Gomez got the game winner 24 seconds after Cammalleri got the tying goal to make it 3-2 Montréal. Le tricolore made Cindy Crysby weep again. The Penguins still have not had a win in their new arena that cost double Marc-Andre Fleury's salary. On a side note. My favourite player P.K Subban was all over Crysby in Saturday's game but, he mouthed off a lot to crysby and Mike Comrie didn't like it. Watch what Don Cherry has to say, its enough to make you never watch Hockey Night in Canada again. Subban, got high sticked by Mike Comrie which cut him open and if Cammalleri got 1 game for his stick work then Comrie should get 10 games for his. That's all I have to say about that.

Well the thanksgiving break is over and the habs were back in action on Wednesday to a wonderful sell out crowd (like always). Price showed that he too can play goalie like a god. He stopped 43 of 47 shots and every shot was a good chance for the powerful and francophone lightning. The opening ceremony was magical just like always and Brian Gionta, the new captain did the honor of naming his team mates in English AND French. He mixed up a couple names (Maxime Laperriere, Justin Boyd) but I would be nervous too. They have to cut the players some slack, they are human just like us. The Canadiens had a 2-0 lead which they ended up blowing in the third period and they lost 4-3 in overtime and the game winner was scored by Ryan Malone.

Well there has been two games that I've missed so i figured I might as well kill two birds with one stone. Friday night the habs got all their offense from their defencemen, and newcomer Alex Picard got his first goal of the season. On a night when the Sabres were celebrating their 40th anniversary game, the Canadiens beat them 2-1. 40 years before the Canadiens played the Sabres the same night and beat them. Quite the anniversary. Carey Price was wonderful once again by stopping 22 of the 23 that came his way.

Saturday night the habs were at home against the Ottawa Senators, who still do not have a win this season. The habs did not show any relent as they beat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 after coming back from a 3-1 deficit. The Canadiens outplayed the Senators from beginning to end. Ottawa managed only 19 shots on Price while the Canadiens shot 37 on Brian Elliot. Brian Gionta scored his first goal as Canadiens captain. With the win the Canadiens are 3-1-1 on the season with 7 points the only team they are behind in the Northeast division is the surprising Toronto Maple Leafs who have been unbeaten so far. The cup parade has already started in Toronto!

Well after a long break, the canadiens returned to action against the new jersey devils. The devils have only won once this season but, the Brodeur curse lives on. Marty Brodeur stopped 29 shots to beat the habs 3-0. The canadiens power play went scoreless again, having only capitalized on one power play out of 30. I think Brodeur plays good in his hometown because his dad is always there watching and taking pictures of him haha.

Well Carey Price got his fifth NHL shutout last night against the terrible Ottawa Senators last night. Andrei Kostitsyn got two goals and Benoit Pouliot got the other. Interesting fact: Jaro Halak also got a shutout last night. Did we really pick the wrong goalie? That's up to you, personally I think both are good and Halak had a good year, I'm gonna go out on a limb and call this year a good one for the good old country boy from BC as well.

Another victory for the beloved Montréal Canadiens against the Phoenix Coyotes in overtime. The score was 3-2 and Andrei Kostitsyn got the winner. Cammalleri and Plekanec got the other goals. Carey Price was stellar in nets saving 27 out of 29 shots. Montréal did get a goal on the powerplay however improving their record to two goals on the power play, but they also blew a 2 man advantage which they should have capitalized on. Derek Morris and Ray Whitney received the penalties for the coyotes. Two players essential to the Coyotes penalty kill. Price continues to play well in these games, and even the games we lose he does not let in any ugly goals. I am quite impressed with Carey this year pretty soon the old chants of "CAREY! CAREY! CAREY! CAREY!" will be heard all around the Bell Centre.

October 28, 2010

The canadiens played a fight filled game at the bell centre last night. Carey Price played stellar again even though he let in 3 goals. The goals were all impossible to stop due to weird bounces, deflections and screening. The habs won 5-3 and play the Islanders again tomorrow. Travis Moen (I love him) fought against an Islander player and the Islanders wanted to fight towards the end of the game. Expect there to be bloodshed tomorrow night. No one will need to buy Halloween costumes because they will all be bloody!
